SSEN UPDATE RICHARD LOCHHEAD ON BLACKHILLOCK 2 SUBSTATION
29/06/2023SSEN have written to Moray’s MSP to update him following the ending of the public consultation on the proposals for a new substation outside Keith.
The team at SSEN are currently reviewing the large amount of feedback received during the consultation. In response to strong public feeling they are investigating the suitability of alternative sites to their current preferred option on the outskirts of the town out Banff Road.
It is hoped that a decision on location will be made in the coming weeks when a detailed update will be made available to the Keith community and in due course a ‘Report on Consultation’ will also be published.
SSEN have stated that they very much appreciate all the feedback received so far and would like to thank the wider Keith community for their constructive input.
Commenting Mr. Lochhead said:
“Residents of the Keith area have voiced their feelings about the preferred site for the new substation loud and clear.
“In addition to the many contributions made to the public consultation, I understand that a petition with around 800 hundred signatures has been recently submitted to SSEN requesting that they reconsider their preferred siting of this new substation
“It is therefore incumbent on SSEN to take the opposition to the Banff Road site very seriously and I am pleased to hear that they are investigating alternative sites.”
