SNP MSPS DEMAND BANK OF SCOTLAND 'THINK AGAIN' OVER PLANNED BRANCH CLOSURES
18/11/2018A group of seven SNP MSPs have demanded an urgent meeting with Bank of Scotland chiefs after a shock announcement of further bank closures.
On 14th November it was announced that Bank of Scotland intend to close local branches in Burnside, Dundee, Glasgow, Keith, Kirriemuir, Lossiemouth, Paisley and Stonehouse.
It is understood the branches are planned to close in February 2019.
SNP MSPs have now written to Bank of Scotland’s Managing Director, Robin Bulloch, calling for an urgent re-think of the plans.
SNP MSP Richard Lochhead commented:
“It’s frankly outrageous that banking officials believe they can up sticks and leave behind the communities they are supposed to serve so callously.
“A face-to-face banking service is indispensable for many of our constituents. The threat of closure to seven branches across the country will come as a shock to many but we are determined to fight to keep every one of them open.
“It is time for the bank to go back to the drawing board and think again about their intention to close more high street branches.”
