SNP GOVERNMENT DELIVERS FUNDING INCREASE FOR MORAY COUNCIL
17/12/2024£15.4M INVESTMENT FOR SCHOOLS, ROADS AND BINS IN MORAY FROM THE SCOTTISH GOVERNMENT
The SNP Scottish Government has recently confirmed a £15.4m funding increase for Moray Council as part of the Scottish budget for 2025-26.
The funding, part of an over £1 billion increase in investment in Local Government in the budget, will empower Local Authorities across Scotland to improve schools, roads, bins and other local services, including in Moray.
However, the Budget still needs to be voted through by Parliament - and local SNP MSP Richard Lochhead has warned opposition politicians that they must back the budget if they want to see this real terms investment delivered to Moray Council.
Commenting, SNP MSP Richard Lochhead said:
“The SNP is prioritising investment in public services, and I welcome this investment of an additional £15.4m for Moray Council by the Scottish Government.
“Local Authorities provide some of the most important services for our communities – so this real-terms increase in funding from the Scottish Government to Local Authorities should go a long way to improving schools, social care, roads, bins, and other local services here in Moray.
“Moray Council can also use this extra funding to safeguard the future of our local libraries, rural schools and leisure facilities.
“But the Scottish Parliament is still to approve the budget – it is therefore crucial that opposition parties back this budget and deliver this investment to Moray Council. They won’t be forgiven by the public if they fail to do so.”
