SNP DELIVERING £9M WORTH OF BUSINESS RATES RELIEF IN MORAY

2690 BUSINESSES AND ORGANISATIONS IN MORAY RECEIVING 100% RATES RELIEF  

SNP MSP Moray, Richard Lochhead, has welcomed the news that 3400 properties in Moray received £9m worth of non-domestic rates relief in 2024, thanks to SNP policies. 

Scottish Government schemes, like the Small Business Bonus Scheme, can offer eligible organisations up to 100% rates relief – with 2690 organisations in Moray being lifted out of paying non-domestic rates all together.

Richard Lochhead MSP has welcomed these figures, which show the value that the SNP Scottish Government places on supporting small business and organisations in Moray.

Commenting, SNP MSP for Moray, Richard Lochhead said:

“I welcome the news that 3400 properties in Moray have benefited from £9m worth of business rates relief in 2024, thanks to SNP policies.   

“This includes 100% rates relief for 2690 eligible small businesses and organisations in Moray - a really significant number.

"Scotland's rates relief policies are the most generous anywhere in the UK, with over 95% of non-domestic properties in Scotland expected to pay less property tax than elsewhere in the UK, and over 100,000 taken out of paying rates altogether in 2025-26.

“At a time when businesses are struggling, the substantial level of rates relief offered in Scotland will be a lifeline for many small businesses and organisations in Moray, showing the value that the SNP places on supporting local business."
