RICHARD LOCHHEAD COMMENTS ON LOSS OF SCOTTISH POWER CONTRAT FOR KURA CONTACT CENTRE

Richard Lochhead MSP for Moray has expressed serious concern following the news that Kura contact centre in Forres have lost their contract to provide front office services for Scottish Power. 

The contract has been awarded to Capita whose offices are based in Glasgow and the north west of England. Scottish Power have carried out similar re-tendering programmes throughout Scotland.

Since being alerted to the situation, Mr Lochhead has been in regular touch with the relevant agencies and the companies involved to offer his support.

Commenting, Mr Lochhead said:

“The situation at Kura contact centre in Forres is extremely concerning and I would strongly urge Capita, Scottish Power and Kura to explore every available option open to them to prevent any job losses.

“Staff will be incredibly anxious about their jobs especially given the difficult financial situation and the pressure on household incomes at the moment.

“I will continue to work with the companies involved and public agencies to ensure staff affected are being supported and will put pressure on all parties to try to save jobs in Forres.

 “I stand ready to assist any constituent affected and employees should feel free to contact my office.”
