MSP WELCOMES REINSTATEMENT OF PAEDIATRIC INPATIENT SERVICES AT DR GRAY'S

Richard Lochhead MSP has welcomed confirmation from NHS Grampian that a full paediatric inpatient service at Dr Gray’s will be restored from 16th October following the recruitment of 2 additional doctors.

Mr Lochhead continues to be heavily involved in efforts to attract public sector workers to Moray, including to Dr Gray’s, having chaired a round table discussion to look at what the key challenges are in recruiting staff and what more can be done to promote Moray as a fantastic place to work and live.

Following those round table discussions, Moray’s SNP MSP has called for a Work Force Task Force to be established to bring local agencies together to avoid duplication and to achieve maximum impact in efforts to recruit key public sector workers to the area.

Commenting Mr Lochhead said:

“I welcome the efforts that have gone into recruiting these two addition doctors that means a round the clock inpatient service will once again be delivered in the Children’s Ward at Dr Gray’s.  I know that this news will be welcomed by the community who highly value the excellent they care delivered at Dr Gray’s.

“Clearly, however, the situation is still fragile with the health board having had longstanding difficulties in recruiting staff to work in our local hospital and I’m continuing to work with public agencies to pursue medium and long term solutions to these recruitment challenges which are not going away fast.”
