MSP WELCOMES POSTHUMOUS AWARD FOR SPEYSIDE FARMER JIM INNES
07/02/2020Richard Lochhead MSP has welcomed the decision by the NFUS to posthumously award the prestigious Miskelly Award to the late Jim Innes.
Jim Innes was a local stalwart and spokesperson for hill farmers in Speyside and was a respected figure in Scottish agriculture.
Commenting Mr Lochhead said:
“Jim was a tremendous and passionate advocate for hill farming and the wider agricultural sector and it is incredibly fitting for him to be recognised with the Miskelly Award.
“He had a huge amount of knowledge and experience and I often sought, and valued, his wise counsel both in my capacity as local MSP and throughout my time as Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs.
“I know that Jim is a much missed figure in the farming community, especially in Speyside given he was such a strong and authoritative voice for the area, and I think this is a very appropriate tribute to a man who gave so much to farming in Scotland.”
