MSP WELCOMES AGREEMENT FOR FURTHER PUBLIC MEETING ON KEITH SUBSTATION

It has been confirmed that Keith residents will have a further opportunity to meet with SSEN regarding plans for the Blackhillock 2 Substation before the end of the current consultation period.
 
This will happen in conjunction with the second-round public consultation event being held by SSEN for the Beauly-Blackhillock-New Deer-Peterhead overhead line project in the Longmore Community Hall on Thursday 20th April from 2-7pm.
 
At that event they will also present the Blackhillock 2 Substation project, and the substation team will be on hand to discuss the proposals in person.
 
In addition, the Blackhillock 2 Substation consultation feedback period will be extended by a further two weeks until the 5th May 2023, giving locals more time to submit their views after the public event on the 20th April.  
 
Commenting Mr. Lochhead said:
 
“I am relieved that the urgent request submitted by myself, other representatives and many locals, to have another opportunity to consider SSEN’s proposal has not fallen on deaf ears and this opportunity has been arranged and the consultation period extended accordingly.
 
“In the meantime, I plan to meet with SSEN in the coming days to highlight local concerns in advance of the event in the Longmore Hall.”
