MSP TO CONVENE TALKS WITH NHS GRAMPIAN & HIE TALENT ATTRACTION MANAGER

27/06/2019

Richard Lochhead MSP is to bring NHS Grampian’s Chief Executive, Amanda Croft, and HIE’s new Talent Attraction Manager, Rona Campbell, together to discuss what can be done to attract staff to work in Moray’s health service.

Mr Lochhead has described these discussions as “essential” given the need to recruit additional staff to Dr Gray’s in order to restore women and children’s services in Elgin.

Moray’s SNP MSP said:

“I welcome the plan to restore women and children’s services at Dr Gray’s and look forward to having a full service is back up and running in Moray.

“However, it remains a concern of mine that we may not be able to recruit the necessary staff to allow the plan to be implemented, and as such I’ve asked NHS Grampian to provide me with an update on what positive steps are being taken to recruit staff and how they can promote the hospital and Moray as a good place to work and live.

“I previously called on Highlands and Islands Enterprise to establish a full time post locally to promote Moray as a place to live and work, and to help address the recruitment challenges in both the public and private sectors, given that a  key point that arose out of previous meetings I convened to discuss this was the need to act collectively.

“Now that the post has been established and Rona Campbell is in place at HIE, I’m working to bring both HIE and the NHS together to discuss how we can attract staff to work in Moray’s  health services in particular.  These discussions are essential – especially in terms of recruiting the key personnel required to reinstate maternity and children’s services at Dr Gray’s."
