MSP JOINS MORAY COUNCIL BUS TOUR FOR SCOTTISH CLIMATE WEEK28/09/2022
Richard Lochhead MSP joined representatives from Moray Council and tsiMoray on an electric bus tour on Monday to mark the start of Scottish Climate Week 2022.
Mr Lochhead, council officers, and tsiMoray representatives travelled from Elgin to Speyside High School in the electric bus to promote climate action and to raise awareness of the climate emergency.
Speaking after Monday’s event, Moray’s MSP said:
“I was pleased to join Moray Council and other local organisations to raise awareness of Scottish Climate Week and to encourage people to take action to reduce carbon emissions in order to combat climate change.
“We’re already seeing the impact of climate change across the world, with serious weather events like the floods in Pakistan, and it is vital that we all understand that actions we take here in Moray and Scotland have consequences for people right across the globe.
“No community or country is too small to make a difference in our efforts to combat climate change and I know there are many organisations in Moray who are doing good work to promote a greener and more sustainable future for our planet.
“I particularly enjoyed the opportunity meet with young people at Speyside High to hear their views and answer their questions. It’s so important that the voices of young people are heard given they will have to live longest with the decisions made in the here and now.”
