MORAY PARLIAMENTARIANS WELCOME A96 DUALLING DESIGN ANNOUNCEMENT

Moray’s MP Angus Robertson and MSP Richard Lochhead have welcomed the announcement of a major multi-million pound contract for the design of dualling of the A96 between Auldearn and East of Fochabers.

Angus Robertson MP said:

“We have already seen a major amount of early stage work and consultation with communities and the announcement of this major design contract for A96 dualling from Auldearn to east of Fochabers is the next major step in this project.

“It clearly  signals the Scottish Government’s commitment to better connecting Scotland’s cities and alongside the major rail improvements also taking place it will undoubtedly push Moray’s economy to new levels in the coming years.”

Richard Lochhead MSP said:

“The SNP has made clear commitments to the dualling of the A9 and the A96 and that is amply demonstrated by the publication of this multi-million pound design contract notice. With the contract set to be awarded early next year we can expect to see further consultation events with our communities as the design of the dualling moves forwards.

“The dualling of the A96 in Moray is now closer to reality than ever. There will be challenges along the way - not least with route selection - but overwhelmingly the view expressed to me is that Moray needs this and this announcement is very welcome news indeed.”
