MORAY ORGANISATIONS SET TO BENEFIT FROM SCOTGOV FUNDING TO TACKLE GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE

13/02/2025

Moray Rape Crisis and Moray Women’s Aid are set to benefit from a funding uplift of £2.4m for organisations across Scotland working to tackle violence against women and girls.

Over 100 organisations will be receive financial support from the Scottish Government’s Delivering Equally Safe programme, which funds projects to prevent violence and support survivors, to the tune of £21.6m in the 2025-26 budget.

Moray’s SNP MSP Richard Lochhead has welcomed the continued support for Moray Rape Crisis and Moray Women’s Aid through the Delivering Equally Safe initiative and hopes the support will go some way to supporting local women and girls affected by gender-based violence.

Commenting Mr Lochhead said:

“Both Moray Rape Crisis and Moray Women’s Aid do incredible work to tackle violence against women and girls, as well as offering much needed support to those in our communities that have affected by gender-based violence.

“Sadly it seems we’re seeing a rise in incidents of violence against women and girls – not just here in Scotland but across the UK – and every effort must be made to ensure people can live their lives free from gender-based abuse.

“The uplift in funding for organisations in Scotland working to prevent abuse occurring and to support those women and girls affected is to be welcomed, and I hope will go some way to supporting the good work being done locally by Moray Rape Crisis and Moray Women’s Aid.”
