MORAY MSP WELCOMES KEYWORKER HOUSING PROGRESS
22/12/2022Moray MSP, Richard Lochhead, warmly welcomes the joint work being undertaken by Moray Council and NHS Grampian to identify housing for keyworkers. This is an issue Mr Lochhead has raised for a number of years during discussions about attracting keyworkers to the area to fill vital posts to run local services.
Both the Council and NHS are reviewing local housing and aim to work together to identify possible solutions to housing keyworkers.
Mr Lochhead said:
“I was really encouraged by the news that Moray Council and NHS Grampian are to review local housing stock and housing needs to seek opportunities to offer housing to keyworkers who are keen to live and work in Moray.
“As people will be well aware, our local public services, such as the NHS, rely heavily on key roles being filled. We simply can’t afford to be in a position whereby suitably qualified people, who are keen to fill these roles, face problems with securing suitable accommodation in the area.
“During discussions over the years I have urged the authorities to identify solutions to this problem so that these vital roles don’t remain vacant due to a lack of suitable housing. Frustratingly, housing is often cited as a barrier so I warmly welcome the work that is taking place.”
