MORAY MSP RAISES ONGOING CONCERNS OVER LOSSIE BUS SERVICE RELIABILITY

Richard Lochhead MSP has written to the Managing Director of Stagecoach Bluebird raising concerns about the reliability of bus services between Lossiemouth and Elgin.

Passengers from Lossiemouth have been in touch with Mr Lochhead regularly in recent months expressing frustration at services turning up late or being cancelled.

Moray's MSP has previously been advised by Stagecoach that driver shortages have been the cause of disruption on local services.

Mr Lochhead is urging Stagecoach to ensure the Lossie to Elgin service is not disproportionately impacted by staff shortages and has sought details of steps being taken to improve the reliability of the service going forward.

Stagecoach has offered Moray's MSP a meeting to discuss these concerns. Any constituents affected by this disruption, should feel free to contact Mr Lochhead to share their experiences. 

Commenting Richard Lochhead MSP said:

"If we're to encourage people to travel by public transport then we do need those services to be reliable and for folk to know they'll get to work or their destination on time.

"Issues with the reliability of the Lossie to Elgin bus service is an ongoing concern and it is clear from the contact I've had that late or cancelled services are cause a great deal of frustration and disruption for passengers.

"Having raised this issue with Stagecoach in the past, I am aware that driver shortages is playing a big part in service cancellations. However, there are concerns that the Lossie to Elgin service is being disproportionately affected.

"I've raised these concerns directly with Stagecoach and I hope they'll look at what more can be done to ensure bus users travelling between Lossie and Elgin have access to reliable services. 

"I welcome their offer to meet me and look forward to discussing these issues with Stagecoach as soon as possible."
