MORAY MSP COMMENTS ON NEW JOBS SET FOR RAF LOSSIEMOUTH

Richard Lochhead MSP has described the latest jobs boost at RAF Lossiemouth as a vindication of the community campaign to save the base and its vital strategic and long term role. 

Commenting Mr Lochhead said:

“RAF Lossiemouth is now Scotland’s only operation airbase and this investment, and the jobs created, demonstrates just how strategically important our region is to the country’s defences.

“We’ve seen an astonishing turnaround from the threat of closure ten years ago, and the recent investment and expansion at Lossie is a vindication of the community’s campaign for a secure, long term role for the base.

“The recent investment in the Typhoons and the Poseidon fleet has been welcome and it is only right that Scotland receives our fair share of defence expenditure.

“The expertise being built up at RAF Lossiemouth stands Moray in good stead for years to come and we know that Boeing is committed to Moray for the long haul given the growing international role of the base.”
