MORAY MATERNITY SERVICES WORKS WILL CONTINUE DESPITE PAUSE ON NEW CAPITAL PROJECTS BY NHS GRAMPIAN
24/01/2024Whilst new capital projects have been paused by NHS Grampian, Richard Lochhead MSP, has received assurances that work to restore the consultant-led maternity service at Dr Gray’s will continue to progress.
Mr Lochhead has welcome the reassurances given to him by the Scottish Government’s Women’s Health Minister, Jenni Minto.
Ms Minto also confirmed the first tranche of funding of £3m for Dr Gray’s was delivered to NHS Grampian in December 2023.
Commenting Moray’s SNP MSP said:
“Understandably, when reports emerged that NHS Grampian were putting a pause on new capital projects at Dr Gray’s and ARI, there were concerns about the impact on plans to restore Moray’s maternity services.
“The Women’s Health Minister has now given reassurances that despite the pause on new projects – caused by cuts to capital budgets by the UK Government – work on the restoration of consultant-led maternity services at Dr Gray’s will continue.
“This will come as a relief to local women and families who are keenly anticipating the reinstatement of maternity services locally, and comes just as NHS Grampian has launched its new campaign to attract medics to the region to support the restoration of these vital services.”
