MORAY COUNCIL UPDATES LOCHHEAD ON CRAIGELLACHIE BRIDGE WORKS
13/03/2023Moray Council has written to Moray MSP, Richard Lochhead, to update him on works being carried out on the on the A941 at the Craigellachie Bridge.
Mr Lochhead was contacted by constituents keen for an update on how the works were progressing, given the impact the reduction to one lane is having on those travelling through Speyside.
Moray’s MSP has now received an update confirming that the works are due to conclude this month, having been impacted by the cold spell of weather in December.
Commenting Richard Lochhead MSP said:
“Following several emails from locals looking for some clarity on when the works at the bridge were due to finish, I raised this with the Council given the works were scheduled to wrap up in December.
“The council have explained that the works taking place on the bridge are to blast back and repaint the steel element of the structure under the bridge, with the works largely taking place out of sight of road users.
“I also understand there is a need to carefully manage the process over water and that the freezing weather we encountered in December hampered the works as there are temperature ranges that the paint can’t be applied in.
“I welcome the update and the fact the works have nearly finished, which I know will also be good news to those who use this route on a regular basis and have encountered some delays.”
