MORAY CHRISTMAS CARD COMPETITION WINNER ANNOUNCED
18/12/2015Moray’s MSP, Richard Lochhead, and MP, Angus Robertson, have announced this year’s winner of their annual Parliamentary Office Christmas Card Design Competition.
The 2015 competition winner is 11 year old Alanna Pick from Greenwards Primary School with her winning design being chosen from over 200 entries.
The theme for this year’s competition was ‘Happiness’ with the winning entry depicting a happy reindeer complete with santa hat!
Each year the Parliamentary Office Christmas Card highlights the work of a local charity with this year’s drawing attention to the important work of Domestic Abuse charity Moray Women’s Aid.
This year’s competition has also attracted record sponsorship from companies operating in Moray, which will support a substantial donation to Moray Women’s Aid.
The sponsors of the competition are: Springfield, Baxters, Maclean’s Highland Bakery, Greers, Strathdee Properties Ltd, Robertson, Asda, Sherriffmill Motor Company Ltd and The Forsyth Foundation.
Congratulating Alanna Richard Lochhead MSP said:
“Alanna’s winning design was a real standout entry and really captured the happiness theme of this year’s competition with it’s bright colours and a smiling reindeer resplendent in a santa hat!
“The winning card will be seen by many people and organisations across Moray and this year highlights the vital work done by Moray Women’s Aid in support of vulnerable women and children who are victims of domestic abuse.
“I particularly thank the very generous sponsorship from businesses in Moray which enables this competition to take place and, importantly, will support a substantial donation to Moray Women’s Aid.”
Angus Robertson MP said:
“Over the years we have had thousands of entries to our Christmas Card competition from children all over Moray and every year the quality of the entries and especially the winning designs has been a real advert for the artistic talent that is widespread in our region.
“This year is no exception with Alanna’s fantastic design, which has brought a smile to the face of the folk who have seen it.
“The sponsorship from companies in Moray is also fantastic, which does a great deal to support and highlight the work of local charities like Moray Women’s Aid, whose work is this year highlighted inside our Parliamentary Office card.
“Thank you to all the children who took part and the support they have had from their teachers and parents, thank you to the sponsors and thank you particularly to the team at Moray Women’s Aid for the work they do to support hundreds of victims of domestic abuse in Moray every year.”
