LOCHHEAD WRITES TO O2 OVER DUFFUS MOBILE PHONE COVERAGE
18/11/2018Richard Lochhead MSP has written to the Chief Executive of O2, Mark Evans, after residents in Duffus have contacted him expressing frustration over the lack of mobile phone coverage in the village.
Mr Lochhead has been told by residents that hopes were raised after a mast and aerials were fitted in the area at the end of last year by O2, but that now after nearly a year the local community is still without a signal.
The MSP has sought clarity from O2 as to when residents can expect the mast to become active, and has urged the Chief Executive to take action to ensure coverage in Duffus improves as soon as possible.
Commenting Mr Lochhead said:
“Lack of mobile phone coverage in rural communities like Duffus is a source of real frustration for local residents and businesses – there’s really no underestimating what a barrier poor signal is for folk.
“I can absolutely understand why folk in Duffus will be disappointed that coverage in the area remains poor, after hopes were raised by the erection of a new mast at the end of last year.
“I’ve asked the Chief Executive to investigate the cause of the delays in activating the mast in Duffus and have urged him to take action to resolve any problems as soon as possible, given the importance of good mobile phone coverage to our rural communities.”
