LOCHHEAD WRITES TO HERMES CHIEF EXECUTIVE OVER MISSING PARCELS
19/01/2022Richard Lochhead MSP has written to the Chief Executive of Hermes, Martijn de Lange, after being contacted by constituents from across Moray who are experiencing significant delays with parcel deliveries, as well as reports of parcels going missing.
One constituent told the MSP that they ordered three packages with different suppliers over the Christmas period, with all scheduled to be delivered by Hermes and despite all three being dispatched, none have arrived.
A number of consumers have expressed frustration not only over the delays but the inability to speak to someone at Hermes to get an explanation.
Mr Lochhead has sought clarity from Hermes as to the reasons for these delays and has asked what steps the company are taking to resolve the current issues.
Commenting Richard Lochhead MSP said:
“In recent days I’ve been contacted by a number of constituents who are still waiting for deliveries they were expecting around Christmas time and are struggling to find out what’s happening with their parcels.
“Understandably this is causing a great deal of frustration for consumers and that frustration is exacerbated by the difficulties folk are having when they try to make contact with Hermes.
“I’ve contacted the Chief Executive raising concerns about parcel deliveries in parts of Moray and seeking clarity on the reasons for these delays. I have also sought details of the steps being taken by Hermes to address these issues and to ensure that normal service resumes as quickly as possible.
“If this is an issue related to the pandemic and staff absences then an explanation for customers would be helpful as well as an indication if this is a UK wide issue or particular problem in the north of Scotland and if so why?”
