LOCHHEAD WELCOMES PLANS FOR TRANSPORT SERVICES FOR DIALYSIS PATIENTS IN MORAY
11/01/2023Moray’s MSP Richard Lochhead has welcomed the announcement that St John Scotland is set to launch a transport service to help dialysis patients in Moray travel to and from Dr Gray’s.
Recruitment for volunteer drivers and co-ordinators is underway and the charity aims to start the service in spring or summer this year.
Commenting Mr Lochhead said:
“Having met with local dialysis patients in the past I know how tough it can be travelling in and out of hospital three times a week to undergo treatment. This new service, which will improve free transport provision for those undergoing dialysis, will make a big difference to those living with chronic kidney disease and will hopefully make the journey to hospital and home again just that little bit easier.
“The volunteers involved in St John Scotland do an amazing job and really do provide an invaluable service to the patients they support. I wish them every success with their efforts to recruit additional volunteers so they can get this new service launched and look forward to seeing St John’s renal patient transport service up in and running in Moray later this year.”
