LOCHHEAD WELCOMES PLANS FOR MINISTERIAL STATEMENT ON MATERNITY SERVICES

Richard Lochhead MSP has welcome confirmation that the Scottish Government will provide an update to the Scottish Parliament on maternity services in Moray later this month.

Mr Lochhead has long supported the community’s campaign to restore a consultant-led service at Dr Gray’s Hospital.

The ministerial statement will take place on Wednesday 26th October. 

Commenting Moray’s SNP MSP said:

“I welcome confirmation that the Health Secretary will update the Scottish Parliament on plans to restore maternity services at Dr Gray’s Hospital in Moray. 

“Campaigners and the wider community have been keen to get a further update after NHS Grampian submitted its draft interim plan to the Scottish Government earlier this year. 

“People in Moray need assurances that progress is being made and that NHS Grampian has developed a serious plan to reinstate maternity services so the majority of women can once again deliver their babies in Elgin.”
