LOCHHEAD WELCOMES MORAY SPORT CENTRE SUPPORT IDEA COULD BE A GAME CHANGER

Local MSP Richard Lochhead has warmly welcomed news that land has been secured to build a regional sports centre for Moray by local businessman Sandy Adam and is encouraging everyone with an interest to attend the open meeting on 22 June at the Alexander Graham Bell Centre, Moray College.

Development of a multipurpose sports facility in Moray is something that has long been discussed and commenting on this recent progress, Mr Lochhead said:

“I was delighted to hear the news that land has been secured to develop a regional sports centre in Moray and I commend Sandy Adam for showing real leadership by taking this on.

“Having convened a sports summit in 2012 to help drive forward this agenda, I’m only too well aware of the demand for first class sports facilities locally and I would encourage anyone with an interest in the future of sport in Moray to attend the meeting and to share their views. A new sports centre in Elgin would be a real and popular game-changer for Moray’s citizens and would help provide a healthier and brighter future of our young people in particular.

“We have an invaluable opportunity here and I hope all agencies will work together to make progress and ensure this project is a success”
