LOCHHEAD VISITS WARDEND FISHERY

27/02/2024

Moray MSP Richard Lochhead recently visited Wardend Fishery, just south of Elgin, to hear about the fishery and the experience they offer to keen local anglers after the fishery was taken on by new owners.

The Fishery was taken on by Lydia and Kevin Koch, who moved from Switzerland, in late 2022 who have maintained the fishery’s popularity with fly-fishers and expanded on the offerings at Wardend.

Wardend Fishery was opened in 2007 by the late Iain MacDonald, who transformed the land into the fishing hotspot it is today stocked full of different species of trout.

Commenting after the visit, Richard Lochhead MSP said:

“I was delighted to visit the Fishery earlier last week to meet with Lydia and Kevin to hear first-hand about their business and what they have to offer for the angling community in Moray and across Scotland.

“It was great to hear about how well things have been going at the fishery since they took it on from Iain and about their future plans for the fishery.

“I couldn’t resist picking up some jam and brownies for myself from their range of goodies, the majority of which are produced and sold at the fishery itself.

“The fishery really benefits from the beautiful surroundings and it was good to see the area was busy with anglers during my visit and hear how they attract fly-fishers from across Scotland.”

Lydia Koch, added:

"We are grateful to share our vision with Richard Lochhead. Thank you for your support and visit. Having said that, we would like to thank all the anglers for their confidence and fishing at the Wardend Fishery. It is a pleasure for us welcoming anglers of all ages - or even the ones who are interested in discovering the adventure of fly-fishing!"
