LOCHHEAD URGES PRE-PAYMENT CUSTOMERS TO REDEEM VOUCHERS BEFORE 30 JUNE DEADLINE

14/06/2023

Moray MSP Richard Lochhead is urging households with pre-payment vouchers to redeem them prior to their expiry at the end of this month.

Customers with non-digital pre-payment vouchers have been sent their monthly Energy Bills Support payments in the form of vouchers to be redeemed at a top-up point, with statistics from Ofgem showing that 18% of vouchers in Moray remain unredeemed.

Households with modern pre-payment meters had their £66/£67 monthly payments credited directly to their meter each month, while those with older, non-digital pre-payment meters were issued with vouchers by post, text or email each month.

Commenting, Richard Lochhead MSP said:

“While it’s good to see that over 80% of vouchers have already been redeemed, 18% of vouchers remain unredeemed which amounts to over £300,000 in support being missed out on.

“I would urge all those with vouchers waiting to be redeemed to do so before their expire at the end of June and make sure they’ve received all their vouchers each month from last October.

“If you do run into any issues, get in touch with your energy supplier for support. My office and I are more than happy to assist anyone struggling to obtain new vouchers from their energy supplier.”

Vouchers are valid for 90 days, expired vouchers can be reissued by contacting your energy supplier, but all vouchers expire on 30 June when the scheme ends.

If you’re ‘storing your voucher for later, you will not be able to redeem them after 30 June.

If the voucher was initially sent by post, you can ask your energy supplier to send this via email or text.
