LOCHHEAD SEEKS GYNAECOLOGY UPDATE FROM NHS GRAMPIAN
04/10/2023Richard Lochhead MSP has written to NHS Grampian’s Chief Executive seeking an update on gynaecology waiting times in Moray and across Grampian.
Concerns have been raised that women are facing delays in accessing treatment locally and as such, Moray’s MSP has written to the health board asking for an update on waiting times and has sought details of steps being taken to tackle any backlog and ensure that patients are seen as quickly as possible.
Commenting, Richard Lochhead MSP said:
“Since the pandemic I have intermittently had concerns raised with me about delays faced by women waiting for gynaecology appointments. In a previous response, NHS Grampian had indicated that some women were experiencing longer delays than usual as clinicians were prioritising cancer and urgent suspected cancer cases.
“However, it is important that all women waiting for treatment are seen as quickly as possible and I’ve written again to NHS Grampian’s Chief Executive seeking an update on current waiting times and details as to what action is being taken to ensure patients are seen as quickly as possible.
“All of use recognise the pressure local health services are under and I know that frontline staff at Dr Gray’s are working flat out to deliver high quality care for patients. I hope NHS Grampian can give assurances that appropriate support has been put in place to support staff to help reduce waiting times in this service.
“If any constituents are experiencing difficulties in accessing gynaecology services, I’d encourage them to get in touch and I would of course be happy to assist.”
