LOCAL REPRESENTATIVES WELCOME INVESTMENT AT ALTYRE
01/07/2015Local SNP representatives in Moray have welcomed a multi-million pound investment in Altyre Estate, which will see a listed steading brought to life as an education campus hosting lecture space, laboratory, studio and exhibition facilities.
Welcoming the news Moray MSP Richard Lochhead said:
“It’s fantastic news that the Blairs Steading project will see a local disused building transformed into a world class research and teaching facility, which will undoubtedly bring many benefits to the local community and wider Moray.
“Moray has a growing reputation for first class education and research facilities and this project will certainly be a welcome addition, which I’m looking forward to seeing develop and progress.”
Moray’s MP Angus Robertson said:
“This investment is good news for both attracting highly skilled, well paid jobs to Moray and in providing a teaching space that will encourage more people to live and study in Moray.
“Expanding the education opportunities for our young people and, indeed, for young people coming from elsewhere is good news for the local economy and the old steading and its setting will make an excellent learning environment.”
SNP Councillor for Forres Aaron McLean said:
“Investment of this type near Forres is great news for our local economy. It is good to see the growing and very positive relationship with Glasgow School of Art following their work in the Enterprise Park and their lease of a High Street premises in Forres.
“This long-term commitment is important in diversifying what is on offer in the Forres area and is good news for the wider community.”
