KINLOSS MILITARY WIVES CHOIR TO MARK REMEMBRANCE AT SCOTTISH PARLIAMENT
18/11/2018Kinloss Military Wives Choir are set to perform at the Scottish Parliament on Thursday 1st November to mark the start of 2018 Remembrance.
The event has been organised by Richard Lochhead MSP who invited the choir to perform in Parliament. The Kinloss choir will be performing a selection of songs including some from their new album ‘Remembrance’ which commemorates 100 years of armistice and recognises the sacrifices of our armed forces and their families.
Speaking ahead of the event Mr Lochhead said:
“I’m looking forward to welcoming the Kinloss Military Wives Choir to the Scottish Parliament. The choir are incredibly talented and I cannot think of a more fitting way to mark the start of 2018 Remembrance than to have the choir performing in Parliament.
“It will be very special to have the Kinloss Military Wives perform songs from their new Remembrance album, which has been released to commemorate 100 years since the end of the First World War, and which recognises the sacrifices of our armed forces and their families – something we know all too well in Moray given the areas longstanding links with the military.”
Brian Smith, Musical Director of the Kinloss Military Wives Choir added:
"We feel very honoured and privileged to be part of the Scottish Parliament's remembrance commemoration.
“Our programme of music and poetry pays tribute to the armed forces, and the wives and partners who are at the heart of the military family - they, too, made sacrifices and paid a price, and still do so today.
“The poems are all by Scottish authors, and reflect both courage and the individual grief and loss inflicted by the Great War."
