ELGIN SNP COUNCILLOR WELCOMES OPENING OF NEW HIGH SCHOOL

12/11/2017

SNP Councillor for Elgin City South has welcomed the opening of the new Elgin High School, following a handover from the contractors to the Council over the October break.

Pupils and staff returned to Elgin High School after the break to the first lessons in the new £30 million building, with around two thirds of that total committed by the Scottish Government.

Cllr Leadbitter said:

“I am absolutely delighted to see the doors open in the new Elgin High School. It has been great to see it take shape following the commitment from both the Council and the Scottish Government to this 30 million pound investment.

“Having schools fit for 21st century learning is a key commitment from the SNP both at national and local level. Seeing that commitment bearing fruit for the hundreds of pupils attending Elgin High and for the New Elgin community around the High School is really fantastic.

“This is a state of the art school with some amazing spaces in it for both pupils and staff and with modern sports facilities that will be accessible to the whole community. Over the coming months we will see the old school demolished to be replaced with a new 3G pitch to complete the transformation.”
