ADDITIONAL FUNDING FOR MORAY'S ROAD REPAIRS WELCOMED
10/07/2018Moray’s MSP and SNP Councillors have welcomed additional funding from the Scottish Government to repair local roads following the bad winter weather.
Moray Council is set to receive an extra £231,000 from the Scottish Government to carry out repairs.
Welcoming the funding, Richard Lochhead MSP said:
“Local road users will be well aware of the impact that the bad winter weather had on some of Moray’s road, particularly in our more rural communities.
“This additional funding will boost the Council’s road maintenance budget, which will have been under greater pressure than normal with the recent bad weather, and will hopefully go some way to repairing damage done over the winter months.”
SNP Opposition Spokesperson on Economic Development and Infrastructure, Cllr Graham Leadbitter, added:
"This additional funding from the Scottish Government to tackle damage to roads from severe winter weather is very welcome indeed. It amounts to nearly quarter of a million pounds and I look forward to hearing from Moray Council officials how this will be spent in Moray.
"As a council covering a large rural area, clearly the condition of our roads is of major importance to many individuals and businesses right across the region and this investment from the Scottish Government will be a major help to keeping our roads network in good condition."
