MSP WELCOMES BROADBAND BOOST FOR FINDHORN
28/01/2020Moray’s SNP MSP Richard Lochhead has welcomed the announcement by Openreach that it plans to make ultrafast broadband available to residents in Findhorn and Kinloss by the end of March 2021.
Commenting Mr Lochhead said:
“Digital connectivity is such an essential part of modern day life and is a key tool for stimulating economic growth, which is why the roll out of superfast broadband is so hugely important co communities in Moray.
“Plans to ensure that residents in Findhorn and Kinloss can access an ultrafast broadband connection by March next year will no doubt be warmly welcomed by the community.
“It is great to see rural communities benefiting from the initial rollout of ultrafast broadband – I know that these plans will be a big boost to the village’s residents and small businesses.
“Poor broadband speeds are not only frustrating but can be a real problem for local businesses who rely on internet access and public intervention is still needed for the pockets of Moray that continue to struggle to get any decent broadband.
“The Scottish Government has invested heavily in improving connectivity across rural Scotland, despite it being the responsibility of the UK Government, and thanks to its digital programme 88% of premises in Moray now have access to superfast broadband. Without the SNP Government’s intervention only 7% of premises would have access to that kind of connection.”
