MSP'S CHRISTMAS SPARKLE COMPETITION RAISES OVER 800 FOR CHARITY
10/04/2019Richard Lochhead MSP’s annual Christmas card competition has raised £831.59 for local charity, Abbie’s Sparkle Foundation.
The card was generously sponsored by Baxters of Fochabers, Walkers Shortbread, Forsyths Ltd, Spey, Robertson Homes, Springfield PLC, Strathdee Properties and Highland Parcels.
Abbie’s Sparkle Foundation was set up by the family of Abbie Main who passed away on Christmas Day 2017, after living with Sarcoma a rare form of Cancer, for over four years. The charity is working to provide support to children across the UK who are living with cancer.
Mr Lochhead presented Abbie’s Mum, Tammy Main, with a cheque for £831.59 at his constituency office on Friday 25th January.
Commenting, Moray’s MSP said:
“I’d like to thank the local businesses who generously sponsored my Christmas card this year and who helped raise a fantastic amount for Abbie’s Sparkle Foundation.
“The theme of this year’s competition was ‘Christmas Sparkle’ which is incredibly fitting given Abbie’s love of Christmas and glitter. Abbie’s Sparkle is such a special local charity who have been doing phenomenal work to support children living with cancer and to deliver a fitting legacy for Abbie who wanted to raise money for ‘hospitals and stuff’. The local community has really got behind them and they’ve raised a significant amount of money over the last year and have been helping children in their hour of need.
“I’m pleased to have been able to support Abbie’s Sparkle in this small way and I am grateful to the schools who supported the competition and the children who sent in their sparkly designs.”
Tammy Main of Abbie’s Sparkle Foundation added:
“I want to thank Richard and his team for thinking of Abbie’s Sparkle Foundation for their Parliamentary Christmas Card. We are pleased that so many schools wanted to take part and appreciate all the effort the children put into their sparkly designs. As a family we looked through all the entries and we know that Abbie would have loved this theme. She loved Christmas and would have loved that her charity was being promoted at her special time of year.
“The Christmas Cards raised a fantastic amount, so we thank the local businesses that made this possible through their sponsorship. This money will go towards ‘hospitals and stuff’ supporting children affected by cancer.”
