MORAY MSP TO CHAIR PUBLIC MEETING OVER RAIL CONCERNS
28/01/2016Moray MSP, Richard Lochhead, is to chair a meeting next week where members of the public will have the chance to share their concerns with Abellio Scotrail boss Phil Verster.
Mr Lochhead invited the Managing Director of the train operator to a meeting in Moray during talks in the Scottish Parliament where the local MSP raised concerns from constituents. These concerns included the frequent cancellation of the 0724 service from Elgin to Inverness, the inability to apply for Club 50 unless you have internet access and losing out on discounts through the Club 50 if customers aren’t online. Other issues include poor wifi connections, shortage of seats and the need to improve baggage space.
The meeting will be held on Monday 1st February 2016 in Elgin Town Hall at 7pm.
Speaking ahead of the meeting on Monday evening Richard Lochhead MSP said:
“I’m delighted that people in Moray will have the chance to raise their concerns directly with the Managing Director of Scotland’s train operator.
“Issues around the cancellation of services and lack of equality for the access to Club 50 are just a couple of issues that many constituents have raised with me.
“These issues cause great frustration for train users and it’s great that people will have the chance to voice those concerns. I would encourage folk who have experienced problems to come along and put them to Mr Verster who will be able to hear the issues first hand.
“I hope that when Mr Verster hears about these issues directly from people that it will lead to improvements in the services provided on the Aberdeen – Inverness line.”
