MORAY MSP RICHARD LOCHHEAD GETS ON HIS BIKE WITH LOCAL CHARITY

Richard Lochhead MSP joined Moray charity ‘Get on a Bike’ volunteers for a short bike ride in Elgin this week.
 
Mr Lochhead was invited to join the dedicated team of volunteers to hear about their efforts to promote physical and mental wellbeing by providing access to bikes and guided rides.
 
Get on a Bike is located at Cooper Park and provides bikes, helmets and gloves to all participants to ensure everyone can take part. Moray’s MSP heard how their guided rides are suitable for all cycling abilities and can be adapted to meet the needs of the individuals taking part.
 
Commenting Mr Lochhead said:
 
“I was delighted to join the fantastic ‘Get on a Bike’ team for a guided ride this week and to hear about the excellent work they’re doing to promote good physical and mental wellbeing.
 
“As a busy constituency MSP finding time to get out on my bike can be challenging so this was a visit I enjoyed a great deal.
 
“For many years I’ve been a keen cyclist and know just how beneficial time out on a bike can be for my own physical and mental health, so the work the volunteers are doing to support folk through the Get on a Bike initiative is important and very worthwhile.
 
“It was great to hear how people are benefiting from their guided rides and I would encourage anyone who feels they might benefit from taking part – whether that’s on a one to one basis or as part of a group – to get in touch with the Get on a Bike team.”

Ride Leader Sheila Scott added:
