LOCHHEAD WELCOMES POLICE ACTION TO TACKLE ANTI-SOCIAL DRIVING IN ELGIN
07/01/2022Richard Lochhead MSP has welcome assurances from Police Scotland that community policing teams are working with roads policing officers to tackle anti-social driving in Elgin.
Mr Lochhead recently contacted Moray’s Chief Inspector after concerns were raised by residents in Elgin about modified cars backfiring in Elgin and the distress it is causing the local community.
Commenting, Moray’s SNP MSP said:
“A number of Elgin residents have been in touch with me in recent weeks to highlight their concerns over anti-social driving and the impact the behaviour of those involved is having on the local community.
“In particular, concerns were raised over modified cars loudly backfiring late in the evening causing a great deal of distress for those with young children and pets.
“I spoke directly with Police Scotland’s Chief Inspector here in Moray and I am grateful to local officers for the attention they are giving this issue. I welcome the fact that community officers and now working with the roads policing team to tackle these issues and I would encourage anyone with any relevant information to contact the police on 101.
“I’d also reiterate my previous appeal to any car owners involved in this kind of behaviour to consider the impact on the community and to stop.”
