LOCHHEAD MEETS WITH WINNER OF CHARITY CHRISTMAS CARD COMPETITION
20/12/2024Moray MSP Richard Lochhead was welcomed to East End Primary School last week to meet with the winner of his annual charity Christmas card competition.
Pupils from primary schools in Moray were invited to enter the competition by designing a card with a ‘friendship’ theme, with the winning design featuring on the front of Richard’s Christmas card.
This year's winning design was from Marfa Sivko, P6/7 at East End Primary School, who was presented with a prize and certificate from Mr Lochhead. For the first time, the winning school also received a small prize which was kindly donated by Asda.
Local businesses in Moray were invited to sponsor the card, with Robertson Group, McDonald’s, Haventus, The Springfield Group, The Forsyths Group, and Walker’s very generously donating to this year’s chosen charity, Step By Step in Moray.
Commenting, Richard Lochhead said:
“I was delighted to be able to join pupils and staff at East End Primary School at one of their whole school assemblies and be given the opportunity to announce Marfa as the winner of my Christmas card competition this year.
“It was great to meet Marfa and her parents as well as hear some of the pupils singing Christmas songs which has certainly got me in the festive spirit!
“My office received lots of entries from many schools right across Moray, and it is always very difficult picking a winner, but Marfa’s card really captured the theme of this year’s competition and was very well designed.
“Thanks to the generous contributions from many local businesses, we've been able to raise a very healthy amount of money for Step By Step in Moray which will go a long way in supporting their work with families in Moray.”
