LOCHHEAD: MORAY MP MUST TAKE PART IN VOTE ON INVESTIGATION INTO PM
20/04/2022Richard Lochhead MSP has said that Moray’s MP must take part in the debate and vote in Westminster tomorrow on whether the Prime Minister should be investigated for misleading parliament by claiming there were no parties in Downing Street during lockdown.
Reports suggest that Mr Ross will miss the House of Commons debate as he will instead be campaigning for the local government elections.
Commenting, Mr Lochhead said:
“I was stunned to hear that Moray’s MP will miss the debate and vote on whether the Prime Minister should be investigated for misleading the House of Commons over party gate.
“The Prime Minister has repeatedly claimed there were no parties in Downing Street before being slapped with a fine by the police for attending those parties, and it is clear that he has misled parliament.
“People in Moray are furious that while they stuck to the rules and made huge sacrifices throughout lockdown, the man in number 10 who was making the laws was also breaking them.
“After everything his constituents have gone through, Moray’s MP should be in the House of Commons to vote for an investigation into the Prime Minister’s conduct. The idea that he is missing this significant debate so he can go out electioneering is unacceptable. His job first and foremost is to represent the people of Moray in Westminster – if he fails to turn up and hold the Prime Minister to account, he is treating constituents in Moray with contempt.
“After all, it wasn’t that long ago – before his screeching u-turn – that Douglas Ross was calling on Boris Johnson to resign.”
