DENTIST REGISTRATIONS MORE THAN DOUBLE UNDER SNP

SNP MSP Richard Lochhead has hailed the latest NHS figures that show NHS dentist registrations have rocketed under the SNP – with 42, 074 more adults registered in Moray since 2007.

The number of children in the Moray registered with an NHS dentist has also risen dramatically with 16, 964 now registered - a 68.7% rise since 2007.

In 2007 just 14,754 adults and 10,051 children in Moray were registered with an NHS dentist, compared to September 2019 where 56,828 adults and 16,964 children in Moray were registered with an NHS dentist.

Commenting, SNP MSP for Moray, Richard Lochhead, said:

“This SNP Scottish Government has taken huge strides in improving the oral health of people in Moray and across Scotland.

“Since the SNP came to power, efforts to increase the number of people receiving regular dental check-ups is paying off, with the number of adults registered more than trebled locally and doubled across Scotland.

“Here in Moray, we’ve seen over 42, 000 more adults and 6,900 more children registered with an NHS dentist since 2007.

“It’s only a few years since the shortage of NHS dentists in Moray was a big issue for families locally and we had queues of people outside dental surgeries trying to register, so the progress we’ve made is to be warmly welcomed.

“Of course there’s always room for improvement, and I hope to see even more people in Moray ensuring they are able to access a local NHS dentist.”
