ROBERTSON CALLS ON MOBILE NETWORK PROVIDERS TO SET OUT MORAY PLANS

01/07/2015

Moray’s re-elected MP Angus Robertson has continued with his long-running campaign to see improved mobile network coverage in Moray with reduced black spots and better data connections.

Following his re-election the SNP MP has written to all the major providers asking to clearly set out their network enhancement plans for Moray, particularly in terms of expanding voice coverage and expanding 3G and 4G services in the region.

Commenting on the ongoing issue Angus Robertson MP said:

“The issue of poor, intermittent and no mobile coverage has grown in importance in recent years as mobile phone use has become almost universal.

“Mobile Network Operators provide a good service for many people but that must not be at the expense of coverage in more rural areas like Moray. It is very important that for the people who have less reliable access there is confidence that serious efforts are being made to improve that network access.

“I have asked the Network Operators to set out clearly what strategic investment and work they have planned for their networks in Moray and I would urge constituents across the region to continue reporting to their providers issues about ‘blackspots’, so-called ‘not-spots’ and lack of coverage.

“It is hugely important that we are not left behind and the so-called ‘digital divide’ allowed to grow. Instead we need to maximise coverage and access for all to digital services, including the mobile voice and data networks.”
